CALITZ AND MACKENZIE REIGN SUPREME

On Saturday 22 October 2016 conditions were far from ideal –
single degree temperatures, driving rain and frosty northwesterly winds –
and yet, AJ Calitz sumitted the iconic mountain four times. And got down; each time
in around 30 minutes, to win the Red Bull LionHeart title, his fourth.

Calitz’s time of 26:56 in the final, was a minute outside the record he set in 2014
but enough to keep Timothy Chambers (28:09) and Johnathan Black (31:42) at bay.

In the women’s race it was Megan Mackenzie who claimed the title
in a time of 33:09 beating Annamart Loubser and Megan Leslie.
